Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman reported she was grabbed round the neck as she walked in Shepperton.
The victim said it happened as she walked past the Shepperton Recycling Centre in Charlton Lane on Friday evening between 8.30pm and 9pm.
She did not see her assailant and broke free and ran from the scene.
The woman called 999 on her return home and Shepperton residents might have noticed an increased police presence in the area as a result.
Police are appealing for anyone who was travelling along Charlton Lane by foot or vehicle on Friday who might have dashcam or helmet cam that could have captured the footage.

A spokesperson for Surrey Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a woman reported being grabbed as she walked past the Shepperton Recycling Centre on Friday evening.
"The victim did not see her assailant, who grabbed her around the neck from behind.
"She broke free and ran from the scene.
"The incident happened shortly between 8.30pm and 9pm.
"The woman called 999 on her return home and officers immediately responded.
"Shepperton residents might have noticed an increased police presence in the response as a result.
"Were you travelling along Charlton Lane on foot or by vehicle on Friday (17 September)? If you were driving, riding or cycling through the area and have a dashcam or helmet cam (including residents, taxi drivers and delivery drivers) that may have captured footage in the area during this time, please review it and contact us with anything suspicious you find.
