Two men were taken to hospital after a fire struck a flat in Tolworth overnight.
Fire crews with London Fire Brigade (LFB) rushed to attend the blaze, which struck a flat on Donald Woods Gardens in Tolworth in the early hours of this morning (Friday, November 12).
The brigade said in a statement Friday they dispatched four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Surbiton, New Malden, Sutton and Wimbledon stations to tackle the fire after being called at 12.23am on Friday morning.
A spokesperson for LFB described what happened next:
"Most of a four-roomed flat on the first floor of the building was damaged by fire. Two men were out of the building before the Brigade arrived and were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews."
The brigade added that the fire was brought under control by 1.33am.
The cause of the fire is not yet confirmed. It is now under investigation by both LFB and the Metropolitan Police.
