A new Surrey hot tub business has been a huge success for two business owners who started in lockdown.
Leo Sargent and Luca Quirici, both 23, started the Surrey Bubbles hot tub business during lockdown.
In November 2020, the recent graduates were in a local pub discussing life throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
They discussed how people were stuck indoors and requesting for hot tubs throughout lockdown.
The pair decided to ditch their full time jobs and hire a hot tub from eBay to then rent out to customers.
Leo Sargent, co-owner of Surrey Bubbles, told the Surrey Comet how his business grew from there.
Leo said: “It was a spontaneous idea that came from a conversation in a pub, to becoming a massive success.”
The duo originally began with two or three hot tubs and lent them to friends and family, but word got out and the business started to grow. Leo added: “At the end of January, we were renting out at least ten tubs every weekend.
“Customers grew, so we knew we had to invest in our business quickly.”
Now, Leo and Luca have over 60 hot tubs stored in their Surrey warehouse and over 1,000 enquiries.
The duo have been featured on Channel 5’s show Hot Tub Brits: More Bubbles please! and have had a number of famous faces use their tubs, including TV presenter, Laura Hamilton.
Surrey Bubbles set up all the required equipment for the hire.
Leo told the Surrey Comet: “We understand the hassle of hot tubs, that’s why we offer a five-star service and do everything for the customer from the get-go.
“We deliver each tub, set it, drain it and pick it up after the event- it’s almost like we were never there.”
The hot tubs are available to hire across the Surrey area- with intentions that the business will “grow and expand nationwide”.
He added: “Our business is an investment, and our plan is to expand nationwide, so we’re willing to throw everything at it.”
Leo told the Surrey Comet of the trials and tribulations the business has faced in the past, including the struggles to keep up with demand and competing with local businesses.
Leo said: “A lot of people have caught onto our idea and copied it for a cheaper price, but we pride ourselves in the hot tub itself- making sure it’s in mint condition and keeping a 5* service throughout.”
Leo shared with the Surrey Comet that starting a business can be “challenging”, but assured that you will “reap the results”.
He added: “You can’t wait around for your business to grow.
“It can be challenging, but you have to enjoy the journey and hold on, then you will reap the results.”
