A woman has died following a crash on the A3 in the early hours of this morning.
Surrey Police were called to the Send and Guildford junction at around 2am this morning (January 11) following reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car.
The woman, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers say enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
Both directions of the carriageway remain closed while emergency services attend.
The road is expected to remain closed for another few hours.
Police are appealing to anyone with any information or dashcam footage in the area between 1.20am and 2.30am by quoting reference P22006930 via online or calling 101.
A Surrey Police spokesperson said: “A woman has died following a collision on the A3 earlier this morning (January 11).
“We were called to the A3 between the Send Junction and Guildford Junction at around 2am following reports of a pedestrian being struck by a car.
“The woman, 24, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“Both directions of carriageway remain closed at this time while emergency services, deal with the incident.
“It is expected that the road will remain closed for another few hours.
“Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident remain ongoing and we would like to thank you for your patience and understanding.
