Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries due to a crash in Epsom.
Officers were called to reports of a crash between a car and a moped driver at 12.40am this morning (August 14).
The incident occurred on the High Street in Epsom, between the junction for Waterloo Road and Ashley Road, and the junction for Church Street and East Street.
The driver failed to stop at the scene, and officers have since found the car that is believed to have been involved.
The moped driver has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The road is currently closed and is expected to remain so for the next few hours.
Sergeant Ben Grilli said: “We would like to appeal for any information relating to two other cars that were reportedly seen in the area at the time, which we believe may be able to help with our enquires.
“The vehicles have been described as a grey Mini and a black Audi Q5. If anyone in the area has seen cars matching these descriptions, or has any information, please do get in touch.”
A spokesperson for Surrey Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a fail to stop collision in Epsom this morning (14 August).
“Officers were called to reports of a collision between a car and a moped driver at around 12:40am on the High Street in Epsom, between the junction for Waterloo Road and Ashley Road, and the junction for Church Street and East Street.
“The road is currently closed, and is expected to remain so for the next few hours.
“Officers have located the car that is believed to have been involved in the collision.
“The moped driver has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.”
