A man has been arrested after telling police that he was “having a wee” when he was found climbing people's garden fences.
Police were out on patrol when they received a call about the man.
When they stopped the suspect, he claimed he was just “having a wee.”
Kingston Police pointed out in a pun-riddled statement on Facebook that “it’s really not polite to go for a piddle in the petunias”.
The man was searched and allegedly found with a crowbar, ski mask and other tools which derailed the story that he had told police.
He was taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Kingston Police wrote in a statement on Facebook: “A Wee problem.
“Response team B East were patrolling about, as they do, when they received a call to a man climbing over garden fences.
“Stopping said suspect he claimed to be “having a wee”.
“Now there’s two things there.
“It’s really not polite to go for a piddle in the petunias.
“Secondly, while being a liar liar pants on fire, he clearly forgot we know people don’t need a crowbar, other tools and a ski mask to go tinkle.
“Having a wee generally only needs biological equipment.
“’Urine trouble’ said the officer.
“He didn’t need to spend a penny as we gave him a lift to custody.
“One nicked on suspicion of burgla-wee.”
