TRANSPORT for London has issued a statement after a bus and car burst into flames in Ewell.

The incident happened in Kingston Road on Thursday just after 7am.

Officers say two cars and a bus were involved in a crash.

One of the cars and a bus then caught fire.

Tom Cunnington, TfL’s head of bus business development, said: “This must have been a very frightening incident for the drivers involved.

“Our thoughts are with them and it is a relief that no one was more seriously injured.

“We are supporting the police and operator’s investigation into what happened.”

One person with minor injuries was treated at the scene and taken to St Helier Hospital.

A video of the scene outside the Queen Adelaide pub shows fire and ambulance crews in attendance.

A Surrey Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said:“ We received a call around 07.05am to a report of an RTC on Kingston Road, Ewell.

“Two fire engines were sent, arriving at the scene around 07.15am.

“Two cars and a bus had been involved in a collision.

"One of the cars and the bus had also caught fire.

“The incident was cleared and crews left the scene around 08.25am.”

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "I can confirm that we were called shortly after 7am to reports of an RTC involving a car and a bus on the Ewell bypass, Epsom.

"It was also reported that the car was on fire.

"Ambulance crews attended the scene and one person, with minor injuries, was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to St Helier Hospital."
