Two children have been taken to hospital after being injured on a ride at a funfair in Epsom.
Yesterday (April 3) at around 7.10pm, police were called to Hook Road Arena which was hosting a funfair named “Funpark” at the site.
Two children were taken to hospital for an assessment of their injuries that they sustained whilst on a ride - one of which was airlifted by air ambulance.
Surrey Police remain at the fairground while investigating the incident further and have worked with the event organisers to shut the site.
The Heath and Safety Executive has been informed of the incident.
Funfair describes itself as “one of the UK’S largest travelling theme park” and their Facebook Page says: “You only pay once for unlimited riding on all of our rides here at Funpark.
“ With over 25 rides and attractions. Including thrill rides, family rides, children rides, stalls and games.”
Police are asking anyone witnesses, or anyone with video or photos of what happened, to contact them quoting reference number SYP-20230403-0637.
A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "I can confirm that SECAmb was called at approximately 7.10pm yesterday, (3 April), to Hook Road Arena, to reports of a person injured on a fairground ride.
"Ambulance crews attended and were joined at the scene by the Kent, Surrey, Sussex Air Ambulance Service.
"Two patients were assessed and treated before being taken to hospital.
"One was airlifted to hospital in London and one was taken to St Helier Hospital by road."
KSS Air Ambulance Service has been contacted for further information.
A spokesperson for Surrey Police said: “Yesterday evening (3 April), at around 7:10pm, we were called to Hook Road Arena in Epsom after reports that two children had been injured on a ride at a fairground.
“The two children have both been taken to hospital for assessment of their injuries.
“Surrey Police worked with the organisers of the event to close the site, and the Health and Safety Executive have been informed.
“There remains a police presence at the site while officers investigate.
“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or has video or photographic footage of what happened, to contact us quoting SYP-20230403-0637.”
