New research has found that from 2022 to 2014, more than 250 sex toys were left on public transport.

Although most were left unclaimed destined to collect dust, some did return to claim their lost property with 22 reclaimed.

The exciting information comes following a freedom of information request from The Sun to Transport for London (TfL).

Along with the 250 missing toys, it was also discovered that the largest amount was found at the North London tube station, Cockfosters.

Meanwhile, 78 sex toys were left on London buses and eight in the back of a black cab.

More than 250 sex toys left on TfL services

Speaking to the national paper, one London cab driver said: "You won’t believe the sort of things people have left in my cab. I’ve had sex toys, handcuffs, masks — just about everything you could imagine."

It was also found that the London Transport Museum has also received some extra lost property, with one sex aid being handed into the museum.

In the last three years, TfL has been handing in over 768,000 lost property items with those that aren't collected headed to auction.

From 2020 to 2021 more than 26,000 books were found abandoned never to be finished.

Whilst 17,945 bags, 6,265 pairs of glasses, 11,120 items of clothing and 15,615 mobile phones were all left behind.

Where does London's lost property go?

Lost property of TfL services tends to end up in charity or some cases at auction in the famous Greasby auction house.

Greasby's is much like any other, with glass cabinets filled with everything weird and wonderful.

The business has been running for just over 100 years starting in 1919 and has stayed in the same spot since its beginnings.

The price tends to be around 20% of the typical resale value according to the Londonist and all devices are wiped before being sold.

Along with all the fancy items like designer bags, jewellery and even a couple of Rolex watches, there are some more bizarre products up for sale.

Trays of random toiletries and bags of small items are included too.

Greasby's is in a unique position compared to other auction houses, with its long connection with TfL, the Met Police, railway and museum lost property officers and Heathrow airport.
