A man is fighting for his life in hospital after a suspected late night hit and run in Epsom.
Emergency services were called to the scene after a man was found unresponsive in South Street at 12.15am on May 21.
The victim, a 44-year-old man, currently remains in a critical condition in hospital.
According to Detective Inspector Lucy Peacock-Smith, who is leading the investigation, the crash likely occurred between 12.03am and 12:09am near the BP garage and Ring Road.
Police suspect that the victim was struck by a vehicle that subsequently fled the scene.
Detectives are urging residents to be vigilant and keep an eye out for any vehicles displaying significant damage since yesterday.
Specifically, they are interested in vehicles with missing front panels or signs of damage beneath the vehicle or with missing parts.

Detective Inspector Lucy Peacock-Smith, who is investigating the case, said: “We have been working round the clock to follow all lines of enquiry to identify the vehicle involved in the collision, and as part of our enquiries, we are appealing to residents who may have noticed a vehicle which has sustained serious damage since yesterday to report it to us.
“We are particularly interested in vehicles with front panels missing or damage under the vehicle with potentially missing parts. If you work in a garage, or if you generally notice any vehicles with the type of damage described, please contact us so we can investigate.
“It is vital that we trace the vehicle and the person who was driving that vehicle in Epsom that night. If you have any information which could help our investigation, please report it to us straightaway.”
A spokesperson for Surrey Police said: “Detectives investigating a collision in Epsom are appealing for help to locate the vehicle involved and are asking residents to keep an eye out for vehicles which have sustained serious damage since yesterday.
“Officers were called to South Street at 12.15am yesterday morning by colleagues from the South East Coast Ambulance Service after a man was found unresponsive in the road.
“We believe he may have been involved in a collision with a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene, close to the BP garage and ring road, sometime between 12.03 - 12.09am.
“A 44-year-old man remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition.
