An arrest has been made after a suspected hit-and-run which left a man fighting for his life in Epsom.
A man was found unresponsive in South Street at around 12.15am on Sunday (May 21).
Officers believed he was involved in a crash with the driver of a car who failed to stop at the scene.
He was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
A 59-year-old man from Epsom has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop, and failing to report a road traffic collision.
He remains in police custody.
A spokesperson for Surrey Police said: “A 59-year-old man from Epsom has been arrested in connection with a collision in Epsom on Sunday (21 May), which has left a man in a life-threatening condition in hospital.
“Officers were called to South Street at around 12.15am after a man was found unresponsive in the road.
“It is believed he was involved in a collision with the driver of a car who failed to stop at the scene.
“The man was arrested earlier today (24 May), on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop and failing to report a road traffic collision.
“He remains in police custody.
