A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital after a stabbing in West Ewell.
The incident happened in Wey Court at 5.15pm yesterday (July 24).
Police were called to the scene and found a man injured.
He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
His condition is currently unknown.
Multiple reports were made of a group of people fighting in the street at the time of the incident.
Officers believe that the fight is linked to the stabbing.
Detective Inspector Tom Griffin said: “The incident was reported to us as large groups of people fighting with weapons.
“We would like to reassure the local community that we are treating this extremely seriously and a number of enquiries are underway to establish exactly what has taken place and to identify any suspects involved.
“However, we cannot do this alone and need anyone with any information to come forward straightaway.”
A spokesperson for Surrey Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in West Ewell on Monday, 24 July.
“Officers were called at 5.15pm following a report of a stabbing, which is believed to have taken place in the vicinity of Wey Court, West Ewell.
“There were also multiple reports of a group of people fighting in the street, believed to be linked to the stabbing.
“The victim was treated in hospital for stab wounds.”
Epsom Police tweeted: “A man was stabbed at Wey Court, West Ewell on Mon 24 July after reports of a group of people fighting in the street around 5pm.
“A man in his 20s was treated in hospital for stab wounds.”
