National Maritime Museum to host Greenwich Comedy Festival

Ed Gamble, Phil Wang and Jayde Adams are among Greenwich Comedy Festival’s headliners and big names, which will set up once again in a big top tent in the magnificent National Maritime Museum.

Running September 13-17, Taskmaster’s Fern Brady, Jack Dee, Stewart Lee and ventriloquist Nina Conti are also on the bill.

Each afternoon and evening features a string of five comedians, so the festival is a chance to see a favourite act, try something new or catch an up-and-coming star.

Cult comic and poet Tim Key and Mash Report’s Rachel Parris, along with Father Ted star Ardal O’Hanlon and Russell Kane will also grace the stage.

Greenwich Comedy Festival is the capital’s largest and longest-running, presenting an eclectic compilation of award winning comedians since 2009.

Running across five nights and weekend afternoons in the beautiful Royal Greenwich, the festival also hosts bars and a string of food outlets for pre-gig catch ups and posts-show debriefs.

Greenwich-raised festival co-creator Will Briggs said: “It’s a joy to return each year, the festival is so established now our audiences know that each show is stacked with incredible acts.

“Often they’ll be drawn to a show because of a particular act, and be introduced to several more superb comedians while with us.” 

Will’s sibling and festival co-creator Cass Randolph added that they were “thrilled” to be returning to the festival’s big top tent, saying: “the outdoor shows served us well during the challenging pandemic years, but to get the shows back under cover feels like a cathartic full circle.”
