Two men have been charged with grievous bodily harm after a fight in Epsom.

Officers were called to Godwin Close at around 11.45pm on June 28.

Four people were arrested at the scene and police claimed all involved were known to each other.

Officers believe it to be an isolated incident.

Patrick Doherty, 34, of West Ewell, and John Keenan, 45, of Epsom, have been charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.

Both men were remanded to appear at Guildford Magistrates Court on Saturday, 29 June.

Doherty and Keenan are scheduled for their next court appearance at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday, 1 August.

A spokesperson for Epsom and Ewell Beat said: "Two men have been charged following an altercation in Godwin Road, Epsom on Thursday, 27 June.

"Patrick Doherty, 34, (DOB 10/11/1989) of West Ewell was charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.

"He was remanded to appear at Guildford Magistrates Court on Saturday, 29 June. He will next appear at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday, 1 August.

"John Keenan, 45 (12/10/1978), of Epsom was charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.

"He was remanded to appear at Guildford Magistrates Court on Saturday, 29 June. He will next appear at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday, 1 August."
