The bodies of three infants and a man who were related to each other have been found inside a Surrey property in a “tragic incident”.
South East Coast Ambulance Service was called to a house in Bremer Road, Spelthorne, Staines-upon-Thames where they found the four bodies.
Surrey Police is carrying out an investigation into the deaths.
At this stage, it believes that this was an “isolated incident with no third-party involvement”.
It has now been confirmed that the children and the man were all related and the three children were all under the age of four.
Postmortems and formal identification will be carried out.
The children’s mother and next of kin are aware of what has happened and are being supported by specialist officers and Surrey Police requests that their privacy is respected.
Surrey Police have also completed a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to previous police contact with those involved in August 2023.
DCI Gareth Hicks who is leading the investigation, said: “This is a truly tragic incident and a thorough investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened.
“We would like to thank the local community for their support and understanding whilst we have been conducting our enquiries.
“We can also now update that whilst Bremer Road was closed for a significant amount of time yesterday, it has now fully re-opened and there will continue to be a police presence in the area for the foreseeable.”
