This week we had our first public performance in the theatre and it was the perfect way to open our newly completed auditorium. The event was a School's carol concert, with over 300 children from Kingston schools. They were absolutely amazing! Parents and teachers formed the audience and the team at the Rose were just ecstatic to have them all in the building. (I don't think there was a dry eye in the house, I know I had to reapply mascara several times).
I think this week has been the longest and most productive week I've ever known. The theatre was still quite dusty and full of building equipment at 9.30am on Monday morning and by 1pm on Wednesday 12th, it was full of school children and an audience. We're not due to open officially until 16 January, so to get the place open a full month beforehand for the schools carol concert was a massive achievement for the building team! They were great (and I think exhausted by 12.30 on Wednesday...)
So now, I'm full of the Christmas spirit! And a few too many mince pies.....
