Some of England's finest Olympic heroes hope to inspire youngsters to enjoy sport, at Chessington World of Adventures on Saturday, June 25.

The line-up is to include England football hero Sir Geoff Hurst MBE, swimmer Sharron Davie MBE and rower James Cracknell OBE.

They are due to take part in the McDonald's Olympic Day Run at the Leatherhead Road theme park, designed to encourage children to exercise more, which has already sold out.

It's costing £10 per person to enter and includes joining the one-mile family run, access to attractions, a goodie bag and a certificate.

Runners will have full access to Chessington World of Adventures for the rest of the day, offering savings of around 50 per cent on a normal Chessington ticket.

The Olympic professionals will be on hand to cheer runners on and offer tips on how children can be active for 60 minutes a day.

James Cracknell said: "I am really excited to be taking part in this year's Olympic Day Run with McDonalds. It's a fantastic event that not only introduces people to the ideals of the Olympic movement, but is also a great way to get kids active and involved in sport. It should be a good day and I am looking forward to meeting all the other people completing the run."

The Olympic Day Run was launched in 1987 by the International Olympic Committee to encourage mass participation in sport.
