It was watering cans at the ready as the Claygate Primary School Gardening Club celebrated the first public showing of its horticultural efforts.
The 12 children, aged seven to 11 have been cultivating their plants inside and in window boxes since January.
But a £600 donation from the Claygate Village and Flower Show Society has helped the school buy a mini greenhouse, shed, and tools including rakes, hoes and spades.
After transforming a neglected area of patio into a thriving allotment, the Gardening Club was sold and raffled off some of their flowers and pots at the school's fete on June 25.
Emilie Myles, 10, said: "We've really enjoyed growing plants from seeds. The vegetables are coming along too."
Carrots, potatoes and a bed of sunflowers are just some of the attractions of the garden and staff hope it will continue to encourage children to get outside more and interact with nature.
