British Transport Police has appealed for Good Samaritans who helped a seriously injured man to come forward.

It has released CCTV images of a man and woman who went to the aid of 40-year-old Daniel East, from Barnet, at Worcester Park train station.

Officers are no closer to determining what caused Mr East's severe head injuries and how he came to be unconscious outside the station's taxi office at 1.30am on Sunday, September 26.

He remains in a medically-induced coma, but his wife is keen to thank the people who helped him.

Mr East was out with friends in the area that evening and there is a 26 second gap in CCTV - in one he is shown walking, and the next all you can see his legs where he is lying on the floor.

BTP Detective Chief Inspector Alison Palmer said: "We've investigated several lines of enquiry to try and piece together what took place, including reviewing CCTV, and speaking with people who were at the station at the time, but to no avail so far.

"We're particularly keen to speak to the two members of the public pictured in the CCTV images as they helped Daniel at the scene and may be able to help us with our enquiries.

"The woman pictured gave Daniel first aid, while the man assisted ambulance staff in putting Daniel on a stretcher. Both stayed until he was taken to hospital.

"We need to identify and speak to them as they could provide us with a clearer picture of events that night.

"Sadly Daniel remains seriously ill and cannot tell us what happened to him. His wife and young children need to know what happened to him and would also like the opportunity to thank those who came to his aid."

Anyone with information, or who recognises the people in the CCTV images, should contact BTP on 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference B4/LSA of 11/10/10.
