Back in 1944/45 during the Second World War, three very young evacuees from Epsom were billeted in my parents home in Cheshire.
They were two sisters and a brother with the surname of Sayward and at the time were six, seven and eight years old. The eldest was a girl Valerie, Beryl was in between and Brian was the youngest. Their home address in 1945 was 4 Marston, Epsom, Surrey.
I know this from a letter sent to my mother by their mother who they called Jane. I still have the letter posted from Epsom on April 17, 1945.
At that time my family home, where the children lived, was 97 Chapel Street, Hazel Grove, Stockport, Cheshire. The only other thing I can remember about their home life was that their father was in the Army and on active service abroad.
The reason I would dearly love to contact any one of them is simply to know how they are and to let them know they were never forgotten.
Although my mother died in 1980 we often talked about the evacuees. I am now 84 and the only one left from my close family. But I still remember the day those three, very young, children with tear-stained faces became a part of my life. They used to call my mother Mamma Dawson, Dawson being our family surname.
