I wanted to challenge the tone of Diana Gorringe's unfortunate letter last week (Grave issues, May 1). Whatever the rights and wrongs of the planning issue with the proposed cemetery/burial ground in Banstead they were sorted out on planning grounds not on the basis of who might be using it.
She states her love for her country. The vision advocated in her letter of a situation where people of any faith or none would not be able to mark the passing of their loved ones is appalling and not the kind of country I could take any pride in living in.
