I am writing with great concern about the netting that has been put around the pond at Bourne Hall Park. Apparently it is to keep the Canada Geese contained behind the fence.
The fact that the geese can fly over the fence makes the reason incomprehensible. With the children and dogs that chase them, they have no escape. Being a big bird they cannot take off that rapidly. There was a part of the fence that they could go under but this is now blocked, which is cruel!
I know that there are a few people that do not like them and yes they can be persistent wanting to be fed, but there are many more of us who enjoy seeing them roam around the park.
Why is it the people who complain get more say than people who enjoy the park and it's wildlife?
Do we have to wait until there is an injured bird, or even a fatality, before anything is done?
