The greenbelt in Surrey is under serious threat. Only last week the Court of Appeal overturned a high court ruling, which had halted work to redevelop Cherkley Court near Leatherhead.
On my doorstep Priam Lodge Stables is being considered by Epsom and Ewell Council to build large detached houses on greenbelt land. That certainly will not help first time buyers get on the property ladder and will set a precedent for further encroachment on greenbelt land.
Greenbelt land in Langley Vale is being advertised abroad for development and land adjacent to both Ashtead Park Garden Centre and the RAC club is also under threat. I urge residents to sign the Save Epsom’s Green Belt petition to Epsom and Ewell Borough Council opposing development of our beautiful countryside, which will lead to urban sprawl and further traffic congestion.
