I was surprised to read Councillor Neil Dallen's recent comments about the departure of Adam Worley.
As chairman of the Strategy & Resources Committee, Coun Dallen is essentially deputy leader of the council.
Therefore, if he feels that the council is slow and frustrating, perhaps he and his colleagues should do something about it.
Just like Mr Worley, I am also 'keen, enthusiastic, young and want to get things done', so I've taken the liberty of including some suggestions for Coun Dallen and his RA group: He could finally act on the Hollymoor Lane redevelopment in order to create new housing for local people and generate revenue through the Government's New Homes Bonus.
He could act on Horton Chapel - a building that continues to decay with each passing day - to create a new community venue in the borough.
He could stop slashing the staffing budget and increase resilience to prevent over-worked and under-paid staff from being stretched to breaking point.
If Coun Dallen is as frustrated as he claims, I hope he will lead by example rather than making excuses for the poor performance of his administration.
Councillor Daniel Stevens; Court Ward/Labour Group leader, Epsom & Ewell Borough Council
