Regarding the decision on the London Road Lodge site in Nonsuch Park at the planning committee meeting at Epsom Town Hall on Thursday, it was a disgraceful outcome, with the planning application being passed by one vote, which was the chairman's.
The chairman said he would vote in line with the planning officer's recommendation but it was widely agreed at the meeting that the planning officer had made a mistake by not taking full account of policy OSR1. That policy should have meant recommendation for refusal.
Therefore, justice dictates that the chairman should have voted against the proposal. Instead, now we have yet more development at Nonsuch Park, based on a faulty recommendation and one ill-judged vote.
