St Mary’s Ewell was delighted to learn recently that Maks Adach, our Senior Organ Scholar, has been awarded an organ scholarship from September 2012 at Oriel College, Oxford, a college which was the home of the famed Victorian churchman and convert John Henry Newman, who was both the Chaplain and a Fellow of the college.
Maks joined St Mary’s in 2009. Last summer he completed his A-Levels at the London Oratory School and two years of study at the Royal College of Music as a Junior Exhibitioner, under Daniel Moult. He is currently studying Organ at Trinity College of Music with Ann Elise Smoot and also holds the Organ Scholarship of the Old Royal Naval College Chapel in Greenwich.
Following in his footsteps at St Mary’s in playing the magnificent Father Willis organ is Jonathan Allsopp, who has been appointed the Junior Organ Scholar. Jonathan is a scholar at Kings College, Wimbledon.
The Director of Music, Jonathan Holmes, (020 8393 5434) would love to hear from anyone with a singing voice to join our happy group of choristers whose repertoire covers most corners of the Anglican choral tradition, as well as a fine range of European sacred music, and expands as the choir progresses.
There are three Choral Scholarships on offer for the current academic year in addition to any other vacancies in the choir stalls.
