Kingstonian defender Alan Inns reckons the next five games will make or break their season.
Following last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at home to Tonbridge Angels, Ks sit sixth in the Ryman Premier Division table and five points off the play-offs.
Inns admitted Ks let themselves down in the second half, throwing away a 1-0 lead in the final 20 minutes.
They now head to struggling Needham Market where three points are essential to keep the play-off hopes alive.
However, before then, Inns and co will be asking themselves a very simple question.
He said: “At the moment we are the sixth best team in the division and that is not good enough.
“Needham are a decent side, they proved that when we played them a few weeks ago, but we cannot be losing to teams at the bottom of the table.
“We have to ask ourselves: ‘Where do we want to be? Do we want to be in the play-offs come the end of the season, or are we just happy to be sixth?’
“We let ourselves down when we lost to Tonbridge, so we have to regroup and go again.
“We have some big games coming up and they could well make or break our season.”
Even if Ks get into the play-offs, Inns has a warning for his team-mates.
“Our record against the top teams is not very good – Tonbridge are a powerful side and they were too good for is in the second half,” he said.
“But we have ambitions to be among the top teams, and if we do get into the top five, then we’ll really need to up our game if we’re to succeed.”
