The Salts slipped to a 3-2 home defeat to Sheerwater in the CCL on a very wild, wet and windy afternoon.
Salts took an early lead on seven minutes when a ball was played into the penalty box and Oliver Mertinez was first to react and shot home for 1-0 with his first goal for the club.
The lead was short lived as Sheerwater claimed an equaliser. Salts' defence were statuesque as a counter attack resulted in Machay curling the ball unchallenged into the corner of the net.
Salts fell 2-1 behind on 26 minutes when another counter attack saw Salts' defence all at sea and Hegarty was able to pick his spot.
The home side drew level on 48 minutes in comical fashion. Endrit Dobraj hit a low speculative shot from the edge of the area and the visiting Keeper saw the ball squirm between his legs on the wet surface, and creep over the line to give Dobraj his first goal for the club.
Sheerwater kept counter attacking and they got the winner on 84 minutes. Their left back Taylor came forward to join the attack and blasted home unmarked.
The Salts now travel to visit British Airways on Wednesday October 10.
